I worked as a telemarketer for newspaper sales a few years ago when I was 18, and what many don't realize is that most people who take this job do so because they don't have the experience or education for something better at the moment. Many are going to school to better their education, and many have more then one job to try to support their families. All I am saying is that the person on the other end of the phone is a human being too.

Please don't yell, scream, swear at us or call us vulgar names. How would you like it if someone spoke that way to your wife or daughter? We are calling because it is our job, not to harass you. I realize that people often ask to be removed from our list, but please keep in mind that it often takes time for the list to be updated, and is not the fault of the person calling you that moment if this doesn't happen.

Also keep in mind that we must make sales not just to make money, but to keep our jobs. It is very high pressure. I was called every vulgar name you could think of on a regular basis, but one of the worst experiences was when a man I had called was angry I had disturbed him. I apologized, but then said he would buy a subscription if I would say, "I am sorry for disturbing Mr. X and I deserve a good hard spanking for being such a bad girl." Since I was so desperate for the sale to keep my job, I had to repeat this humiliating phrase, not once, but twice because he wanted me to say it louder. After that he just hung up the phone.

Please don't take the advice of people who say to yell or curse the next time someone calls them. Everyone deserves kindness and respect.

The initial call is from an auto-dialer, even though no-one answers, just start yelling and screaming into the phone, then act like you are a porter at a mental hospital and start talking to your "patient". The auto-dialer auto-records the "conversation" so they can review it to ensure it's a residence. Then a real person will call and talk to you eventually. If they think they are calling an institution, they usually stop calling..

This number has been calling my phone a lot in the last 2 weeks. A I answered a female said hello I said hello and she hung up. A So my question is if this is a legitimate company trying to sell life insurance and affiliated with Scotia Bank and more than likely making a commission off every new client they sign up she had her opportunity when she had me on the phone why did she hang up on me? Seems odd to me..

I've received 3 calls from this number today and that is only today. Its about 930pm and they just called here and I called back and it was an asian guy. Had no idea about what I was talking about. Said his number has been Hijacked. He surely did not sound like someone from the conservative party. 416

Seems odd to me. 416
